A big part of the attraction to buying wood stoves has to do with the many benefits they offer. However, the biggest reason so many people are turning to wood stoves is that they are simply far, far less expensive than a gas powered furnace. Wood stoves can be fueled by either logs, wood pellets made from sawdust, or both. These forms of fuel are extremely inexpensive and easily accessible, even to people in the city. In fact, many people have been able to operate their stoves without paying anything for their fuel by either picking up dead wood around their homes or by using untreated wood pallets recovered from local businesses. These businesses often pay someone else to collect their pallets, so it’s a win/win situation for you both! It is hard to argue with free!
