Traveling can always be a little nerve wrecking when a person has pets. There are times when pet owners have to take their pets with them during their travels, as in the case of a move to another city or state. In some instances, pet owners simply cannot find anyone to watch their pets or a place that they feel comfortable leaving their pets at. Then there are pet owners who like to have their companions by their side at all times even when traveling. In these instance, airline approved pet carriers are absolutely necessary.
Airlines have changed their policies and updated others and some of these changes affect pet travel. Pet carriers for airlines have restrictions and parameters that must be met before a pet is allowed to fly onboard. Of course, there are cases where airlines will allow small pets to fly with the passenger, but those are far and few between. Pets can sometimes be loud because of their nature of because of the fear they get when flying. In the majority of cases, the pets will have to be put in airline approved pet carriers and stored in the cargo area of the plane. The carriers must be locked and must provide the pet with enough food and water to survive the trip length. Airlines also charge an extra fee to allow a person’s pet to fly with them, even if in a carrier – similar to luggage. All carriers are inspected to ensure pet safety.
